Researchers at #TeamCaL have traditionally joined while they are pursuing their undergraduate degrees. However, several have continued as part of this team after their graduation, still collaborating in our projects and serving as mentors/femtors to our younger students. To date, we have active #TeamCaL researchers as part of projects while in Colombia, Hong Kong, and the United States.

As part of #TeamCal, she's collaborating on a book chapter that links ethnographic methods and literacies. She chose to be part of LSLP because of its leaders and mentors and because it's the only research lab at UPB using sec0nd languages (primarily English) for every project. She added that at LSLP "You can find not only academic support but also a great community." |

Meet Mariana
Mariana is an avid lover of books and diligent study. She's pursuing her Bachelor's degree in Spanish-English Education. She has a deep passion for literature and writing, spending much of her free time immersed in books. Recently, Mariana has developed a love for painting and coloring, which has been sparked by my work as a tourist guide showcasing handmade ceramics in El Carmen de Viboral, her hometown. This combination of interests allows her to explore art, culture, and language in meaningful ways, shaping her personal and academic journey. As Mariana explores her research interests within #TeamCaL, she has found a perfect fit in LSLP. Academic excellence has always been her chief pursuit, and LSLP offers the ideal environment for growth. She adds, "The mentors here inspire me to strive for greatness, and I am eager to embark on this journey of discovery and learning. I am confident that my time here will be transformative, and I am excited for what lies ahead!" |

She was awarded the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) scholarship offered by the Government of Canada in the first semester of 2024. Meet Camila
Camila is currently pursuing her BA in Spanish-English Education. She likes reading, talking about different ideas, and sports. She considers it vital to respect other people's opinions and to use facts when we discuss things. These interests fit well with her studies because they help her communicate better and think carefully in both Spanish and English. As a new member of the Literacies in Second Languages Project (LSLP), she is starting to engage in data collection procedures and expects to write a micro-paper in due time. One thing Camila likes about LSLP is that we study how people use different languages, especially English, in our city. We look at how these languages change the way we see and understand our city over time. These help us understand how language, images, and society work together in cities. Camila believes that this way of studying language is very useful and exciting. |

|
Since we began in 2012, we have had the privilege of having very committed researchers. Some of them have left the project due to personal reasons or because they wished to pursue their own research agendas. Regardless of their decisions, their participation in LSLP, whether for a few months or several years, made the #LSLPLegion and #TeamCaL stronger.
hey will always have our gratitude and appreciation for daring to dream big with us. We can only wish all of them the best of luck on all their current and future academic and personal endeavors. They will always be Legion too! |
